Travel RADIO Network

"PEOPLE ARE TALKING"  is not just a cute catch-phrase. It is simply based on the well known and proven belief that the best form of advertising and/or promotion is word-of-mouth.

A MESSAGE TO THE TOURISM AND TRAVEL INDUSTRY: IT'S 2014. IT'S TIME TO RETHINK HOW YOU MARKET TRAVEL*

"WE HATE YOUR DESTINATION. WE RECOMMEND STAYING AWAY. ..BAD SERVICE, BAD FOOD, ETC ETC

How would you feel if we said that about your destination on the air to hundreds of thousands of listeners, maybe to millions, and then placed those same comments on our web site to back it up?  If you are the target and you are a tourism rep or a hotel manager you likely would not be pleased. You might want to call us and set us straight.

But wait...why would you care? Didn't you say that radio doesn't work for travel and tourism? People need to see. They need  pictures and movies. Right?  Think about it. Our motto "people are talking" is meaningful.

COMING THIS FALL: The "Traveling Fools" on radio. It's a unique one-hour weekly syndicated travel show in which the hosts are not the focus and don't try to impress you with their world travels. It's about YOU the travel consumer.  It's entertaining and informative and is based on Travel Radio Network's exclusive "Junior Travel Reporter" model originally developed in 1992.

*78% of consumers trust peer recommendations.

WE HAVE SEEN SOME REALLY BAD (but pretty) TV SPOTS FOR TOURISM. IS YOUR AD AGENCY TRYING TO WIN AWARDS OR GROW YOUR BUSINESS?

BE CAREFUL (Check in before 6 PM?...No!)

Be cautious when you book hotels with well known online portals . If you have to cancel your hotel due to an emergency, you may end up paying the full price anyway.  DO Read the fine print and ask questions. Even canceling three days in advance may not save you from losing all of your money. I lost mine. Read More

 LOT FULL?  FIND AIRPORT PARKING
More than a fourth of retirees make $50,000+
A recent report from The Media Audit shows the number of retirees in the 87 metro markets surveyed regularly, with household incomes of $50,000 or more. It appears that ad agencies have not discovered this yet, as they focus almost solely on 18-34 year-old demographics.

WHAT'S UP DOWN SOUTH?

EXCUSE ME...THAT'S MY SEAT!

When you fly are you concerned about where you might be seated? Do you want to avoid sitting over the wing? Hate to sit in the rear of the plane. Want to sit sit at or near an emergency exit. no matter which aircraft find the perfect seat for you at at       Seat Guru.

TORONTO'S PEARSON AIRPORT (confusing)

Back awhile ago, upon complaining about lack of sensible signage, an airport employee actually said to me, "we have too many signs".  There are only two Terminals. Terminal 1 and 3. There is no Terminal 2. Signs only indicate Terminal but don't indicate which one! Unless you live or work at the airport, how could you know?

The parking space numbers are the same on each level. You better remember your level or you will be searching for your car for a long long time. No live collection agents at the parking lot exits. If you don't notice that you have to pay in the airport, you could have an ugly situation outside with unfriendly people. Pearson Airport seems designed for the convenience of the people who work there, not the traveling public..

Y'ALL COME!

Take it from someone who lived in Tennessee. The Grand Ole Opry and Graceland are a must-see but there's more to see in Tennessee than country music and Elvis.(ok the stuff Elvis left behind)  From the Smokey Mountains to the rich history of Middle Tennessee to the historic Peabody, this is the mid-south's most diverse state. For history buffs, there is enough Civil War history in this state alone to make several epic movies. Nashville is more than just Music City USA and there's more in Chattanooga than the Choo-Choo. In Memphis, you have to check out Beale Street and the dry ribs. Don't forget Famous Amos cookies.

Iona Farm? Say it out loud. So maybe you don't own a farm but you can visit an authentic small Scottish farm and village in Nova Scotia. For the Latin-challenged, Nova Scotia means "New Scotland". Nowhere is the Scottish heritage more evident than on Cape Breton Island and in the small village of Iona at the Highland Village Museum. Stroll through a time capsule that starts with the first settlers in this community that looks very much like it's namesake in Scotland. By the way, the view is without exaggeration, breathtaking.                                             MORE
